Questions about macOS App Store update package generation and optimization
Hello, According to documentation, the App Store does not re-download the entire app when updating, but instead generates an update package containing only the changed content compared to the previous version. I’d like to clarify the following points: 1. Granularity of file changes If only part of a large file changes, does the update package include the entire file, or does it patch only the modified portions within that file? 2. Guideline on separating files The documentation recommends separating files that are likely to change from those that are not. How should this be interpreted in practice? 3. Verifying the diff result Is there a way for developers to check the actual diff result of the update package generated by the App Store without submitting the app? Is there a diff command tool or comparison method closer to the actual App Store update process? 4. Estimating update size during development For apps with large-scale resources, minimizing update size is critical. Are there any tools or best practices to estimate the size of the update package before submitting to the App Store? Any clarification or reference materials would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Symbol not found: NSUserActivityTypeLiveActivity and WidgetCenter.UserInfoKey.activityID
The app I'm working on has iOS 16.0 as target. Recently Live Activities support was added, but then it started crashing when running on iOS 16.0 devices. After some investigation, I've found that the culprit was the presence of NSUserActivityTypeLiveActivity and WidgetCenter.UserInfoKey.activityID, even though they were inside an @available(iOS 17.2, *) block. If I comment these two variables, the app work as expected. I've also tried adding #if canImport(ActivityKit) around the code, but without success. But if the @available isn't working, how can I prevent this? It looks like a bug, since the documentation says that NSUserActivityTypeLiveActivity is supported but iOS 14.0+, but I'm pretty sure it was introduced on 16.1. This is the only output I get with the crash: dyld[66888]: Symbol not found: _$s9WidgetKit0A6CenterC11UserInfoKeyV10activityIDSSvgZ Referenced from: <D6EFF120-2681-34C1-B261-8F3F7B388238> /Users/<redacted>/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/8B5B4DC9-3D54-4C91-8C88-E705E851CA0F/data/Containers/Bundle/Application/DB6671FF-CB07-4570-BD63-C851D94FAF29/<redacted>.app/<redacted>.debug.dylib Expected in: <C5E72BB5-533F-3658-A987-E849888F4DFC> /Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_20A360/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 16.0.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/Frameworks/WidgetKit.framework/WidgetKit

Family Controls entitlement not working on TestFlight (works fine on Xcode build)
I’m developing an app that uses Family Controls to block other apps. I’ve already received approval from Apple for the entitlement, and everything works perfectly when I run the app from Xcode on a physical device. However, when I upload the same build to TestFlight, the app installs and runs, but the Family Controls functionality doesn’t work — it seems like the entitlement isn’t being applied in the TestFlight version. So I’d like to ask: 👉 Do Family Controls entitlements work automatically on TestFlight builds, or is there any additional step required to enable them?

Flutter build fails on iOS physical device in Android Studio, works in Xcode
Hello, I'm encountering an issue when trying to build and launch a Flutter app on a physical iOS device using Android Studio. Here is the full log: `Launching lib/main.dart on (iPhone Name) in debug mode... Automatically signing iOS for device deployment using specified development team in Xcode project: (Project ID) Running Xcode build... Xcode build done. 19.7s Failed to build iOS app Could not build the precompiled application for the device. Error (Xcode): Target debug_unpack_ios failed: Exception: Failed to codesign (Project Names)/build/ios/Debug-iphoneos/Flutter.framework/Flutter with identity (identity ID). Error launching application on (iPhone Name).` This only happens when using Android Studio. When I build the same project using Xcode, it runs fine on the same device. Background: I accidentally deleted all Apple accounts from Xcode recently. In Keychain Access, I had three identical certificates; I deleted the older two and kept the newest one. I suspect this may be related to provisioning or code signing, but I’m not sure how to resolve it within Android Studio. Any advice or steps to fix this would be greatly appreciated. I created a new test project in Xcode using the iOS > App template, enabled automatic signing in Signing & Capabilities, and selected my team.
I then tried building and installing the app on a real device, and it worked successfully.
This confirms that there are no issues with code signing or provisioning on the Apple side.
Thanks in advance!

On Demand Resources does not show an error
I am integrating On Demand Resources into my Unity game. The resources install without any problems if the internet connection is stable: all resources are installed. While testing various scenarios without an internet connection, I encountered the following problem: if I turn off the internet during installation, I don't get any error messages, but if I turn the internet back on, the download no longer continues (and I still don't get an error). If I reopen the application with a stable internet connection, the download will always be at 0%. Xcode Code coverage shows zero; even after 245 successful tests
I have a project inside the project structure. I have around 300 unit tests in the project. I see that for some of the subprojects, the coverage numbers show up correctly, but for other subprojects and the main project, the coverage number shows zero, even though the tests are running successfully. The log I get is: Aggregation tool emitted warnings: warning: /Users/ABC/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/projectABC-hfzmkbdgpiswoxfvvnvhrafaiqyb/Build/ProfileData/A8EEC1FB-1699-4C29-A88C-D3DDA226DBC0/0A416494-A393-4319-AA47-502D72084C9C-43351.profraw: raw profile version mismatch: Profile uses raw profile format version = 8; expected version = 10 PLEASE update this tool to the version in the raw profile, or regenerate the raw profile with the expected version. I only have one Xcode (26.0.1) on my machine. I tried cleaning the derived data, the cleaning project, and rerunning the tests, but it hasn't helped. Please help me get the coverage number back. Thank you.

The bundle does not contain an app icon for iPhone / iPod Touch of exactly '120x120' pixels
Trying to publish my .NET MAUI app via the transporter after migrating it from Xamarin (using the App Store Connect feature directly within visual studio 2022 has never worked for me) and getting this error. Validation failed (409) Missing required icon file. The bundle does not contain an app icon for iPhone / iPod Touch of exactly '120x120' pixels, in .png format for iOS versions >= 10.0. To support older versions of iOS, the icon may be required in the bundle outside of an asset catalog. Make sure the Info.plist file includes appropriate entries referencing the file. I have setup my maui app to use the asset catalog with the .pngs setup as bundled resources and I have also tried using the .svg method, both resulting in this error. When I zip and unzip my .ipa file I can see the asset catalog as part of the payload (C:\Archives\AIM_MAUI\Payload\AIM_MAUI.app\AppIcon.appiconset) Here is the contents of the Contents.json file { "images" : [ { "filename" : "icon_40.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "20x20" }, { "filename" : "icon_60.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "3x", "size" : "20x20" }, { "filename" : "icon_58.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "29x29" }, { "filename" : "icon_87.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "3x", "size" : "29x29" }, { "filename" : "icon_80.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "40x40" }, { "filename" : "icon_120.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "3x", "size" : "40x40" }, { "filename" : "icon_120.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "60x60" }, { "filename" : "icon_180.png", "idiom" : "iphone", "scale" : "3x", "size" : "60x60" }, { "filename" : "icon_20.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "20x20" }, { "filename" : "icon_40.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "20x20" }, { "filename" : "icon_29.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "29x29" }, { "filename" : "icon_58.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "29x29" }, { "filename" : "icon_40.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "40x40" }, { "filename" : "icon_80.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "40x40" }, { "filename" : "icon_76.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "76x76" }, { "filename" : "icon_152.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "76x76" }, { "filename" : "icon_167.png", "idiom" : "ipad", "scale" : "2x", "size" : "83.5x83.5" }, { "filename" : "icon_1024.png", "idiom" : "ios-marketing", "scale" : "1x", "size" : "1024x1024" } ], "info" : { "author" : "xcode", "version" : 1 } } I have tried manually using the actool tool from Xcode 16.4 to create the Assets.car file that is seeming to be missing and leading to this issue but even that can't compile the icons (or even a simple sample appicon.appiconset from Xcode with a singular .png added) and I am beginning to think there's an issue with the actool itself. I have tried reinstalling Xcode and every time the actool is just a partial download or a stub of the tool and not the real tool (actool size on my Mac is only 170kb and per my research it should be at least a couple mb) Is there any workaround?

"No Such Module" When Using Mergable Libraries In a Static XCFramework
I'm attempting to create a proof of concept of a static library, distributed as an XCFramework, which has two local XCFramework dependencies. The reason for this is because I'm working to provide a single statically linked library to a customer, instead of providing them with the static library plus the two dependencies. The Issue With a fairly simple example project, I'm not able to access any code from the static library without the complier throwing a "No such module" error and saying that it cannot find one of the dependent modules. Project Layout I have an example project that has some example targets with basic example code. Example Project on Github Target: FrameworkA Mach-0 Type: Dynamic Build Mergable Library: Yes Skip Install: No Build Libraries For Distribution: Yes Target: FrameworkB Mach-0 Type: Dynamic Build Mergable Library: Yes Skip Install: No Build Libraries For Distribution: Yes XCFrameworks are being generated from these two targets using Apple's recommendations. I've verified that the mergable metadata is present in both framework's Info.plist files. Each exposes a single struct which will return an example String. Finally I have my SDK target: Target: ExampleKit Mach-0 Type: Static Build Mergable Library: No Create Merged Binary: Manual Skip Install: No Build Libraries For Distribution: Yes The two .xcframework files are in the Target's folder structure as well. The "Link Binary With Libraries" build phase includes them and they're Required. Inside of the ExampleKit target, I have a single public struct which has two static properties which return the example strings from FrameworkA and FrameworkB. I then have another script which generates an XCFramework from this target. Expectations Based on Apple's documentation and the "Meet Mergable Libraries" WWDC session I would expect that I could make a simple iOS app, link the ExampleKit.xcframework, import ExampleKit inside of a file, and be able to access the single public struct present in ExampleKit. Unfortunately, all I get is "No such module FrameworkA". I would expect that FrameworkA and FrameworkB would have been merged into ExampleKit? I'm really unsure of where to go from here in debugging this. And more importantly, is this even a possible thing to do?

"A software update is required" message is shown when running beta software
I'm running the latest iOS 26 beta 5 on my iPad and iPhone. Whenever I run these betas, I always get the message below telling me an update is available (whenever I plug in my devices). I'm assuming this is because the update check is detecting that I have something other than the latest production release. Obviously, it makes no sense to ask me to update to a prod build when I'm running the dev beta. Is there a way to turn this message off? Or maybe Apple could handle this situation better? Or maybe it's just a bug and I'm the only one getting this message?

Best replacement for MCL
So, as we found out from WWDC, the migration to Apple Silicon is inevitable. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a replacement for Macintosh Common Lisp on Apple Silicon? I was using it back in the MPW days and struggling to keep the Lisp code working, but Apple Silicon has thrown a money wrench at it! Thanks in advance for any advice on any available Apple Silicon Lisp development tools!

SystemData and IOS Images
Hi, I’m trying to free up space on my computer and have uninstalled Xcode. However, I noticed that many large files remain on the filesystem even after uninstalling it. The largest remaining files (~33 GB) are iOS Simulator images located at: /System/Volumes/Data/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes I attempted to delete them using root privileges, but it seems that these system files are mounted as read-only. I’m reaching out to ask for guidance to ensure that these files do not contain anything important for macOS, and that it’s safe to remove them before getting in recovery mode. Thank you very much for your advice!

How to Obtain License File for Main Camera Access Entitlement in visionOS (Email Was Deactivated During Approval)
Hi everyone, I'm developing a visionOS application using Unity with an enterprise developer account. I applied for the Main Camera Access entitlement, but at the time of submission, the email address associated with my Apple ID was deactivated, so I couldn’t receive any email communication from Apple. Later, I updated the email address for my Apple ID. Now, in the Apple Developer portal under Identifiers, I can see that my app has been granted Main Camera Access, and I can also add the corresponding capability in Xcode. However, according to Apple’s documentation(https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionos/building-spatial-experiences-for-business-apps-with-enterprise-apis): “To use entitlements, you need to include both the entitlement file and a corresponding license file in your app. After Apple approves your app for one or more entitlements, you receive a license file, along with additional instructions.” I never received this license file, possibly due to the deactivated email. I don't know where to find it or how to retrieve it now. What exactly is this license file? If it was originally sent to an unreachable email, how can I request it again or get it resent? Where in the Apple Developer portal (or elsewhere) can I access or download this file? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

TestFlight app crashes on launch when minimum supported iOS version is set to iOS 14
Hi All, I have an App on AppStore, recently the minimum supported version of the app was changed from iOS 12 to iOS 14. Post that the TestFlight builds are crashing on launch. If we revert the minimum supported iOS version to 12, the crash no longer happens. This project is using cocoapods, and from the crash logs it seems the issue with with PLCrashReporter framework. "EXC_CRASH" Termination reason: DYLD 9 weak-def symbol not found '__ZN7plcrash3PL_5async15dwarf_cfa_stateljiE10push_stateEv'. This issue is happening only on TestFlight builds where the minimum supported version is 14.0 Any pointer to a solution is welcome.

Can’t Enable Developer Mode on Apple Watch – No Prompt Appears
Hi, I’m currently developing a watchOS app and ran into an issue where I can’t enable Developer Mode on my Apple Watch. Device info: Apple Watch Series 9 (watchOS 10.4) Paired with iPhone 14 Pro (iOS 17.4.1) Xcode 15.3 (macOS 15.5, Apple Silicon) Issue: When I try to run the app on my physical watch device, Xcode prompts that Developer Mode needs to be enabled. However, there is no approval request on the Apple Watch, and no Developer Mode option appears under Settings → Privacy & Security. I’ve already tried the following: Rebooting both devices Unpairing and re-pairing the watch Erasing and setting up the watch again Signing out and back into my Apple ID Using the latest Xcode version (15.3 and 16.3 both tested) Running clean builds and checking provisioning profiles Attempting install via both simulator and physical device Still no luck — the app will not launch on the Apple Watch due to Developer Mode being disabled, and the option is missing entirely from Settings. I visited an Apple Store Genius Bar, but they couldn’t help and told me to contact Developer Support. I’ve already submitted a support request, but in the meantime I wanted to ask here in case anyone else has experienced this and found a workaround. Thanks in advance.

Assistance Needed with Enabling Speech Recognition Entitlement for iOS App
Subject: Assistance Needed with Enabling Speech Recognition Entitlement for iOS App Hi everyone, I’m seeking guidance regarding the Speech Recognition entitlement for my iOS app using Capacitor. Our App and we submitted a request to Apple Developer Support four days ago, but have not yet received a response. 🧩 Summary of the issue: Our app uses the Capacitor speech recognition plugin (@capacitor-community/speech-recognition) to listen for native voice input on iOS. We have added both of the required keys in Info.plist: NSSpeechRecognitionUsageDescription NSMicrophoneUsageDescription We previously had a duplicate microphone key, which caused the system to silently skip the permission request. After removing the duplicate, we did briefly see the microphone permission prompt appear. However, in our most recent builds, the app launches without any prompts, even on a fresh install. The plugin reports: available = true permissionStatus = granted Despite this, no speech input is ever received, and the listener returns nothing. We believe the app is functioning correctly at a code level (plugin loads, no errors, correct Info.plist), but suspect the missing Speech Recognition entitlement is blocking actual access to the speech system. 🔎 What we need help with: How can we confirm whether the Speech Recognition entitlement is enabled for our App ID? If it’s not enabled, is there a way to escalate or re-submit the request? Our app is currently stuck until this entitlement is granted. Thank you for your time and any guidance you can offer!
