scenePhase not behaving as expected on screen lock

Extra Trailing Closure for List {}
I am a little lost. Why is Xcode complaining of this. Everything looks right here. I even removed my code and copy-pasted Apple's sample from here - https://developer.apple.com/documentation/swiftui/list Clean built and still get this. Not using List removes the error.

Implement Continuity Markup in Mac app?
Hello, is there a way to implement Continuity Markup in our own apps? (This is what I'm talking about: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102269 , scroll down to "Use Continuity Markup"). Also, why does a QuickLook panel (QLPreviewPanel.shared()) not display the markup options when triggered from my app for png image files in my app's Group Container? Do I need to implement certain NSServicesMenuRequestor methods for that? Sadly, I could not find any docs on that. Thank you, – Matthias

Custom keypad touchUpInside events not working in iOS18
I have a custom keypad to accept numeric input for iPads that I have been using for many years now. This is longstanding working code. With iOS 18 the touchUpInside (and other) events in the underlying Objective-C modules are not called in the file owner module when activated from the interface. The buttons seem to be properly activated based on the visual cues (they change colors when pressed). This is occurring in both simulators and on hardware. Setting the target OS version does not help. What could the cause and/or solution of this be?

Unable to start a live activity
I'm unable to get live activity to show up in my app so I started to play with the demo app Emoji Rangers. The demo project initially only created a live activity in-app and then you're able to update it via the demo buttons. I added the following code to have it be able to start a live activity from the backend: func observePushToStartToken() { Task { for await data in Activity.pushToStartTokenUpdates { let token = data.map {String(format: "%02x", $0)}.joined() // Send token to the server print("got PUSHTOSTART TOKEN: (token)") } } } I get the token and then I use it to send this payload that should start the activity: { "aps":{ "timestamp":1743719911, "event":"start", "content-state":{ "currentHealthLevel":100, "eventDescription":"Adventure has begun!", "supercharged":true }, "input-push-token":1, "attributes-type":"AdventureAttributes", "attributes":{ "currentHealthLevel":100, "eventDescription":"Adventure has begun!", "supercharged":true }, "alert":{ "title":{ "loc-key":"%@ is on an adventure!", "loc-args":[ "Power Panda" ] }, "body":{ "loc-key":"%@ found a sword!", "loc-args":[ "Power Panda" ] }, "sound":"chime.aiff" } } } But unfortunately I get an error when I send it: [AdventureAttributes] Error creating activity: NSCocoaErrorDomain (4865) The data couldn't be read because it is missing. First step is to get this working, so I want to get your help in figuring out what I'm missing.

Strange behavior when pushing UIViewController
This is a very strange behavior when pushing vc that I have never seen since I started coding. The pushed ViewController is transparent and only navBarTitle is shown. After the push, you can't control anything unless you go back to the home screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Long press currency change button below.(currencyWrapper) Call selectCountry and this bug happens. SourceCode let currencyWrapper = UIView() private func configureCurrencyCard(){ //The strange behavior shows up after long pressing this currencyWrapper.backgroundColor = .white currencyWrapper.addTarget(self, action: #selector(changeCurrency)) currencyWrapper.setWidth(currencyChangeIcon.follow(by: 16, x: true)) currencyWrapper.setCenterX(w1/2) currencyWrapper.setHeight(currencyLabel.follow(by: 12, x: false)) currencyWrapper.roundToCircle(true) view.addSubview(currencyWrapper) } private func selectCountry(country: Country){ let vc = CountryViewController(country: country) vc.hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = true navigationController?.pushViewController(vc, animated: true) }

Mixing NavigationLink types (value: and non-value: types)
Hello, I was wondering if someone could clear-up my thinking here. e.g. consider the code below... It has a rootView with a navlink to a childView which in turn has navlinks to GrandchildViews. The root view uses basic navLInks NavigationLink{View} label: {View} The child view uses type-based navLinks navigationLink(value:) {View} and .navigationDestination(for:) {View} I would expect the basic navlinks to work in the root view and the type-based ones to work in the child view. However it appears that both are active when one taps on a link in the child view. e.g. User actions: Start -> RootView is only view on the stack -> (tap on ‘Child View’) -> ChildView is top of the stack -> tap on ‘Alice’ -> a second ChildView is top of the stack with a GrandchildView underneath…. Why does this happen, why are the basic links also applied to the childView's links? Thanks. struct Thing: Identifiable, Hashable { let id = UUID() let name: String } struct RootView: View { var body: some View { NavigationStack { List { NavigationLink { ChildView() } label: { Label("Child View", systemImage: "figure.and.child.holdinghands") } NavigationLink { Text("Hello") } label: { Label("Another navLink item in the list", systemImage: "circle") } } .padding() } } } struct ChildView: View { private var things = [ Thing(name: "Alice"), Thing(name: "Bob"), Thing(name: "Charlie"), ] var body: some View { Text("This is the child view") List { ForEach(things) { thing in NavigationLink(value: thing) { Text(thing.name) } } } .navigationTitle("Child View") .navigationDestination(for: Thing.self) { thing in GrandchildView(thing: thing) } } } struct GrandchildView: View { let thing: Thing var body: some View { Text("This is the GrandchildView: \(thing.name)") } }

NSTextView and TextField becomes non clickable after a alert/menu is shown
I have a NSViewController as the root view and have a switui view embedded in it via NSHostingView. override func loadView() { self.view = NSHostingView(rootView: SwiftUiView()) } } In the SwiftUiView, I have a TextField and an NSTextView embedded using NSViewRepresentable, along with a few buttons. There is also a menu: Menu { ForEach(menuItems), id: \.self) { item in Button { buttonClicked() } label: { Text(item) } } } label: { Image("DropDown") .contentShape(Rectangle()) .frame(maxWidth: .infinity) .frame(maxHeight: .infinity) } The NSTextView and TextField work fine, and I can type in them until I click on the menu or show an alert. After that, I can no longer place my cursor in the text fields. I am able to select the text but not type in it. When I click on the NSTextView or TextField, nothing happens. At first, I thought it was just a cursor visibility issue and tried typing, but I received an alert sound. I've been trying to fix this for a couple of days and haven't found any related posts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UIInputView not being deallocated
I am experiencing memory leaks in my iOS app that seem to be related to an issue between UIInputView and _UIInputViewContent. After using the memory graph, I'm seeing that instances of these objects aren't being deallocated properly. The UIInputViewController whichs holds the inputView is being deallocated properly along with its subviews.I have tried to remove all of UIInputViewController's subviews and their functions but the uiInputView is not being deallocated. The current setup of my app is a collectionView with multiple cell,each possessing a textfield with holds a UIInputViewController.When i scroll up or down,the views are being reused as expected and the number of UIInputViewController stays consistent with the number of textfields.However the number of inputView keeps increasing referencing solely _UIInputViewContent. class KeyboardViewController: UIInputViewController { // Callbacks var key1: ((String) -> Void)? var key2: (() -> Void)? var key3: (() -> Void)? var key4: (() -> Void)? private lazy var buttonTitles = [ ["1", "2", "3"], ["4", "5", "6"], ["7", "8", "9"] ] override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() setupKeyboard() } lazy var mainStackView: UIStackView = { let mainStackView = UIStackView() mainStackView.axis = .vertical mainStackView.distribution = .fillEqually mainStackView.spacing = 16 mainStackView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false return mainStackView }() private func setupKeyboard() { let keyboardView = UIView(frame:CGRect(x: 0, y: 0, width: UIScreen.main.bounds.width, height: 279.0)) keyboardView.addSubview(mainStackView) NSLayoutConstraint.activate([ mainStackView.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: keyboardView.topAnchor, constant: 16), mainStackView.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: keyboardView.leadingAnchor, constant: 0), mainStackView.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: keyboardView.trailingAnchor, constant: -24), mainStackView.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: keyboardView.bottomAnchor, constant: -35) ]) // Create rows for (_, _) in buttonTitles.enumerated() { let rowStackView = UIStackView() rowStackView.axis = .horizontal rowStackView.distribution = .fillEqually rowStackView.spacing = 1 // Create buttons for each row for title in rowTitles { let button = createButton(title: title) rowStackView.addArrangedSubview(button) } mainStackView.addArrangedSubview(rowStackView) } self.view = keyboardView } private func createButton(title: String) -> UIButton { switch title { ///returns a uibutton based on title } } // MARK: - Button Actions @objc private func numberTapped(_ sender: UIButton) { if let number = sender.title(for: .normal) { key1?(number) } } @objc private func key2Called() { key2?() } @objc private func key3Called() { key3?() } @objc private func key4Called() { key4?() } deinit { // Clear any strong references key1 = nil key2 = nil key3 = nil key4 = nil for subview in mainStackView.arrangedSubviews { if let stackView = subview as? UIStackView { for button in stackView.arrangedSubviews { (button as? UIButton)?.removeTarget(self, action: nil, for: .allEvents) } } } mainStackView.removeFromSuperview() } } Environment iOS 16.3 Xcode 18.3.1 Any insights would be greatly appreciated as this is causing noticeable memory growth in my app over time.

Trying to drag a modelEntity inside an Immersive space
Goal : Drag a sphere across the room and track it's position Problem: The gesture seems to have no effect on the sphere ModelEntity. I don't know how to properly attach the gesture to the ModelEntity. Any help is great. ShareLink of a movie is inconsistent
In my app, I have a ShareLink that attempts to share a movie. struct MovieTransferable: Transferable { let url: URL let writeMovie: (URL) -> () static var transferRepresentation: some TransferRepresentation { DataRepresentation( exportedContentType: .movie, exporting: { (movie) in // Write the movie into documents. movie.writeMovie(movie.url) return try! Data(contentsOf: movie.url) }) FileRepresentation( exportedContentType: .movie, exporting: { (movie) in // Write the movie into documents. movie.writeMovie(movie.url) return SentTransferredFile(movie.url) }) } } The ShareLink works if you try to share the movie with the Photos app, Air Drop, and iMessage. If I share to WhatsApp, the movie shows up as empty (zero length), but there's a movie. If I share to Discord, the movie is not displayed at all (only the comment). Instagram posts a dialog saying it won't allow movies and to use the app (why are they even in the ShareLink option for movies?). YouTube processes for a bit and then does nothing (no upload). Are there things that I can do to make the Transferable accepted at more of the end points? It's at fps 30 and I've tried most of the available codec's. The size is the same as the iPhone's screen, so the aspect ratio is a bit odd. However, if I go directly to the app (Discord, etc...) upload from my phone works fine. Any help would be appreciated to make this more viable.

Improving references to localized strings in App Intents
In order to make referencing keys for localized strings a little more reliable, our application references generated constants for localized string keys: This eliminates the potential for developers to misspell a key when referencing a localized strings. And because these constants are automatically generated by the exact same process that provides localized strings for the application, each and every constant is guaranteed to have a localized string associated with it. I’m currently attempting to implement something similar for the localized strings referenced by our new App Intents. Our initial release of App Intent functionality is simply using string literals to reference localized strings: However, I am running into several issues when trying to reference the string keys as a constant. The closest I managed to get was defining the constant as either a LocalizationValue or as a StaticString and referencing the constant while initializing the LocalizedStringResource. With this approach, I see no errors from Xcode until I try and compile. What’s more is that the wording of the error being thrown is quite peculiar: As you can see with the sample code above, I am clearly calling LocalizedStringResource’s initializer directly as Indicated by the error. Is what I’m trying to do even possible with App Intents? From my research, it does look like iOS app localization is moving more towards using string literals for localized strings. Like with String Catalog’s ability to automatically generate entries from strings referenced in UI without the need for a key. However, we’d prefer to use constants if possible for the reasons listed above.

The issue of unable to use document type for Mac catalyst project
Hello, I have encountered a question that I hope to receive an answer to. Currently, I am working on a music project for Mac Catalyst and need to enable music files such as FLAC to be opened by right clicking to view my Mac Catalyst app. But currently, I have encountered a problem where I can see my app option in the right-click open mode after debugging the newly created macOS project using the following configuration. But when I created an iOS project and converted it to a Mac Catalyst app, and then modified the info.plist with the same configuration, I couldn't see my app in the open mode after debugging. May I ask how to solve this problem? Do I need to configure any permissions or features in the Mac Catalyst project? I have been searching for a long time but have not found a solution regarding it. Please resolve it, thank you. Here is the configuration of my macOS project: CFBundleDocumentTypes CFBundleTypeExtensions flac CFBundleTypeIconSystemGenerated 1 CFBundleTypeName FLAC Audio File CFBundleTypeRole Viewer LSHandlerRank Default Note: Sandbox permissions have been enabled for both the macOS project and the iOS to Mac Catalyst project. The Mac Catalyst project also has additional permissions for com. apple. security. files. user taught. read write

Release Build Configuration as Release Fails Preview
I have a simple SwiftUI project with two basic build configurations (Debug, Release) as shown below. I now choose Build > Scheme > Edit Scheme under Product and select Release as the current build configuration as shown below. And the Preview canvas exhibit errors. If I click on the Diagnostics button, it says under PREVIEW UPDATE ERROR OptimizationLevelError: not building -Onone ”BuildSchemeCrazyDaughter.app” needs -Onone Swift optimization level to use previews (current setting is -O) What does that mean and why don't I get the preview for the Release build configuration? Thanks.

Animate layout change
I want to show a view, where the user can add or remove items shown as icons, which are sorted in two groups: squares and circles. When there are only squares, they should be shown in one row: [] [] [] When there are so many squares that they don’t fit horizontally, a (horizontal) scrollview will be used, with scroll-indicator always shown to indicate that not all squares are visible. When there are only circles, they also should be shown in one row: () () () When there are so many circles that they don’t fit horizontally, a (horizontal) scrollview will be used, with scroll-indicator always shown to indicate that not all circles are visible. When there a few squares and a few circles, they should be shown adjacent in one row: [] [] () () When there are so many squares and circles that they don’t fit horizontally, they should be shown in two rows, squares on top, circles below: [] [] [] () () () When there are either too many squares or too many circles (or both) to fit horizontally, one common (horizontal) scrollview will be used, with scroll-indicator always shown to indicate that not all items are visible. I started with ViewThatFits: (see first code block) { let squares = HStack { ForEach(model.squares, id: \.self) { square in Image(square) } } let circles = HStack { ForEach(model.circles, id: \.self) { circle in Image(circle) } } let oneLine = HStack { squares circles } let twoLines = VStack { squares circles } let scrollView = ScrollView(.horizontal) { twoLines }.scrollIndicators(.visible) ViewThatFits(in: .horizontal) { oneLine twoLines scrollView.clipped() } } While this works in general, it doesn’t animate properly. When the user adds or removes an image the model gets updated, (see second code block) withAnimation(Animation.easeIn(duration: 0.25)) { model.squares += image } and the view animates with the existing images either making space for a new appearing square/circle, or moving together to close the gap where an image disappeared. This works fine as long as ViewThatFits returns the same view. However, when adding 1 image leads to ViewThatFits switching from oneLine to twoLines, this switch is not animated. The circles jump to the new position under the squares, instead of sliding there. I searched online for a solution, but this seems to be a known problem of ViewThatFits. It doesn't animate when it switches... (tbc)

Save credentials prompt not shown when login and password aren't the last fields in a form
The save credentials prompt is not shown after clicking the submit button in the following setup. The prompt is shown if I move the email field before the login field.
