First macOS Developer ID notarization stuck In Progress for multiple valid submissions
I am trying to notarize my first macOS app for direct distribution outside the Mac App Store using Developer ID Application signing. Team ID: 32S6XVAQPY Environment: macOS app distributed via Developer ID notarytool with a saved keychain profile archive exported locally, app zipped with ditto What I already verified locally: The archived app is signed with: Developer ID Application: (32S6XVAQPY) codesign --verify --deep --strict passes spctl shows: source=Unnotarized Developer ID syspolicy_check distribution only reports the expected missing notary ticket Hardened runtime is enabled The app bundle and nested Sparkle executables were re-signed and now have valid Developer ID signatures with secure timestamps Important note: I previously had a real signing issue in nested Sparkle binaries, and Apple rejected that submission quickly as Invalid. I fixed those signatures, and now new submissions no longer fail quickly but remain stuck In Progress. Submission IDs currently stuck: bea6c4b3-b107-4c81-8042-6c58b1cf5087 5489e29c-d583-4779-a125-ca0fbd9cad0b Earlier invalid submission with a concrete Sparkle signing error: 10df648b-eca8-428f-98d6-4cb4096153ad Apple reported invalid Developer ID / missing secure timestamp on: Sparkle.framework/Versions/B/Updater.app/Contents/MacOS/Updater Sparkle.framework/Versions/B/Autoupdate Sparkle.framework/Versions/B/XPCServices/Downloader.xpc/Contents/MacOS/Downloader Sparkle.framework/Versions/B/XPCServices/Installer.xpc/Contents/MacOS/Installer That Sparkle issue has since been fixed locally and re-verified. Question: Is there currently a notarization backlog or any known issue affecting first-time macOS notarizations or Developer ID submissions? At this point the remaining submissions appear valid locally but sit In Progress for a very long time.

Can't enable an iOS Driverkit driver when using an older app ID
Hi there, We've discovered a problem with our iOS app. We've been attempting to add a Driverkit driver to it, but any time we run the app through Testflight, the driver installs fine, but when we go to enable the driver toggle in the app's settings, the toggle stays on, but in the device logs I can see: could not insert bundle at <private> into manager: <private> As you would expect - this means the driver is not actually enabled and does not respond to a device being connected to the iPad. This does not happen when building & running the app locally, nor does it happen when installing an Ad Hoc build. We also have a different app, not yet shipped. We are able to add the driver to that app without issue. It works after going through Testflight. What we have discovered now is that everything works fine even if we just create an entirely new app with it's own bundle IDs. I should point out that in all cases, we're keeping the capabilities the same for each of these apps/IDs - including the managed capabilities. The bundle IDs that have this problem are older (5 years old or more). It seems like any newer ID will work, but trying to add the driver (and the associated managed capabilities) to an older app/ID results in this vague error message, with no further details. If we inspect the resulting dexts, we can also see that the "Internal requirements code size" is different on the ones that fail. The failing ones have a size of 204 bytes, whereas the working ones all have a size of 220 bytes. Not sure if that's related but it's strikingly consistent. Does this mean there is an issue with older app IDs, and we need Apple to manually refresh them in some way before the driverkit capabilities will work after going through Testflight? We have two apps in this state, both are of the same vintage (~5 years+). We've been battling this issue for months on and off, so would appreciate some help.

app crashes
the iOS app store package's entitlements file has an issue. After updating to a new version to fix the entitlements file, the app still crashes upon opening but can function normally after a restart. What methods can the app side use to resolve this entitlements file issue without requiring a restart to open and use the app properly?

notarization stuck in progress > 24hrs
Hi guys, I am new to the Apple Developer Program (enrolled a few days ago) and this is my first app notarization attempt. I've been experiencing significant delays - all submissions have been stuck at "In Progress" for over 24 hours. Details: macOS app signed with Developer ID Application certificate Using xcrun notarytool with app-specific password Hardened runtime enabled codesign --verify --deep --strict passes Team ID: QVHM976XC5 Submission IDs (all stuck "In Progress"): 5f494a89-0db0-4cc6-944f-ca2fe399e870 (latest - 8+ hours) 938f6b8d-0d00-45f5-861d-68fe470df6c2 d0edcbfe-8464-455f-b077-bebaa5b9aab7 I understand new developers may experience longer initial processing, but 24+ hours seems excessive. Is there anything I should check or any additional steps required for new accounts? Any guidance appreciated.

Notarization submissions stuck "In Progress" — native macOS app with Sparkle.framework (12+ attempts)
I'm submitting a native macOS app (Swift/SwiftUI, arm64) that includes Sparkle.framework for auto-updates. All binaries are signed with a Developer ID Application certificate using --options runtime and --timestamp. I've submitted 12+ times over the past two days, both from local notarytool submit and from GitHub Actions CI. Every submission uploads successfully and returns a valid submission ID, but then stays at "In Progress" indefinitely — none have resolved to Accepted or Invalid. Two early submissions did eventually come back "Invalid" — Apple's rejection log showed the Sparkle nested binaries had ad-hoc signatures (they were being signed as individual Mach-O files instead of bundle directories). I fixed this with proper inside-out bundle signing. Since the fix, local codesign --verify --deep --strict passes cleanly, but all ~10 subsequent submissions remain stuck at "In Progress". 9UT54V24XG Would appreciate any guidance, or if someone from the notary team could check our queue. Happy to provide specific submission IDs.

The notarization system seems broken
The process has been stuck "In Progress" for 8 days now. We had a scheduled New Year Offer for our software that would run based around this important new update, and obviously we missed it because of this crazy issue. Notarization used to take a few seconds. Now it does not work, neither on my newly set up Mac, nor in my old (completely unchanged) one. My company and finances are totally frozen at this point due to this issue. PLEASE help, look into my actual account and do what is needed!

GateKeeper rejects application bundles with a file name with an NFC/NFD problem by copying with Finder
I made a macOS application using Swift Package and distributed it in dmg format through Apple Notary service. However, we received a report from a user that it can be launched from a disk image mounted from dmg, but when copied to /Applications, the app is broken and does not start. I looked into why this happened, I noticed that the codesign command returned different results when copying the application bundle and /Applications on the volume mounted dmg with Finder. Mounted dmg: OK ❯ codesign --verify --deep --verbose /Volumes/azoo-key-skkserv/azoo-key-skkserv.app /Volumes/azoo-key-skkserv/azoo-key-skkserv.app: valid on disk /Volumes/azoo-key-skkserv/azoo-key-skkserv.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement Copied by Finder: Bad codesign reports that there are 148 added/missing files. ❯ codesign --verify --deep --verbose /Applications/azoo-key-skkserv.app /Applications/azoo-key-skkserv.app: a sealed resource is missing or invalid file added: /Applications/azoo-key-skkserv.app/Contents/Resources/AzooKeyKanakanjiConverter_KanaKanjiConverterModuleWithDefaultDictionary.bundle/Contents/Resources/Dictionary/louds/グ1.loudstxt3 (skip...) file missing: /Applications/azoo-key-skkserv.app/Contents/Resources/AzooKeyKanakanjiConverter_KanaKanjiConverterModuleWithDefaultDictionary.bundle/Contents/Resources/Dictionary/louds/グ1.loudstxt3 (skip...) Copied by ditto: OK ❯ ditto /Volumes/azoo-key-skkserv/azoo-key-skkserv.app /Applications/azoo-key-skkserv.app ❯ codesign --verify --deep --verbose /Applications/azoo-key-skkserv.app /Applications/azoo-key-skkserv.app: valid on disk /Applications/azoo-key-skkserv.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement I made a simple macOS application to explain this problem in an easy-to-understand way. You can download dmg in github releases, mount dmg, copy it in the Finder, and check if there is a problem by running the codesign command. https://github.com/mtgto/example-utf8-mac-notarization As a result, I learned the following two things. Occurs only with resources with file names whose values change due to NFC/NFD normalization No problems occur with the resources of the application itself. Generated by the Swift Package resources that the application depends on I think this is a problem with Finder or Gatekeeper.

certificates expired, created new certificates and missing Mac App Distribution
Hi, My certificates expired and I created new ones. But now Xcode shows me in Apple Accounts status of Mac App Distribution that the Missing Private... Howto fix the missing private key? I need to sign a .pkg for upload with Transporter. Further I generated a CSR for App License Delivery ALD certificates. https://developer.apple.com/help/account/certificates/create-a-certificate-signing-request/ And with App Store Connected I created new certificates. In Xcode I had to remove the Apple Account and add it again, after altering currency. This procedure was described somewhere because Xcode was not able to connect my account. This is fixed now.

First app for me - stuck on Notarization
Hey there! Thanks so much for all the great posts about this topic! I'm fairly new to Mac development since a few months back, and I've been really impressed with Apple's developer tools and ecosystem so far. It's been an exciting journey building for macOS! However, I've hit a bit of a roadblock with the notarization process via direct download and would really appreciate some guidance from you more experienced developers. I understand that Apple has built a well-designed automated system to maintain high security for users, but I'm wondering: What's the normal timeframe for notarization to complete? What are usually the most common reasons if it takes longer than expected? Is there anyone at Apple who can help if the process gets stuck? I'm really excited to launch my app and continue developing for this amazing platform, so any tips from experienced Apple developers would be hugely appreciated! Thanks in advance! 🙏

pkgbuild giving signing identity error
The actual error: pkgbuild: error: Could not find appropriate signing identity for “Developer ID installer: My Name (DeveloperID)”. I'm trying to sign a program written with gfortran. The steps worked the last time (Mar 23) I built this code. The steps to error: a) xcrun notarytool store-credentials --apple-id "xxx" --team-id "yyy" Giving Profile Name zzz and App-specific password b) codesign --force --timestamp --options=runtime -s "Developer ID Application: My Name (yyy)" AppName c) pkgbuild --root ROOT --identifier org.aaa.bbb --version "1.1.1" --sign "Developer ID installer: My Name (yyy)" AppName.pkg ROOT contains the package contents At this point I get the error pkgbuild: error: Could not find appropriate signing identity for “Developer ID installer: My Name (yyy)” Are there steps that have changed. Any suggestions? Thanks, David

Can't Provision A Device
Hi First, I hope I'm in the right place, I'm not certain. I'm having my first attempt at IOS development and want to see the progress I've made on my phone. I plugged it in to my Mac and selected it as a preview device and got the following messages in the Signing & Capabilities screen: Your team has no devices from which to generate a provisioning profile. Connect a device to use or manually add device IDs in Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles. https://developer.apple.com/account/ No profiles for '...' were found: Xcode couldn't find any iOS App Development provisioning profiles matching '...'. My account and personal team are shown in the Xcode settings, but it says 0 Provisioned Devices. I also tried restarting, and enabled developer mode on the phone. I checked the provided link, but saw nowhere to add a device ID. Clearly I don't understand what I'm doing. Can anyone help me make sense of this?

Notarization status always stuck on "In Progress..."
Today, I used xcrun notarytool submit to upload my packaged Electron app for macOS—once as a .zip file and once as a .dmg—for Apple notarization. However, both submissions have been stuck at "Current status: In Progress" for several hours now. I’ve also checked the status using xcrun notarytool info, and it keeps returning status: In Progress. Could someone please help me understand what might be going wrong? This is quite urgent—if a technical support engineer or anyone from the team could take a look, I’d be glad to provide the UUIDs of my notarization requests.

Notary service down again?
Is the Notary service unavailable again? The system-status page shows it as being green but I am back to receiving the same error as previously which fixed itself once the notary service went green again and I am unable to notarize and staple my Distribution PKG.

Flutter iOS Widget Extension – CodeSign Failed (ActivityKit entitlement missing, cannot enable in Identifiers)
Hello everyone, I am developing a Flutter iOS application that includes a Widget Extension + Live Activity (ActivityKit). The project runs successfully on the iOS simulator when launched directly from Xcode, but it cannot be signed properly via Flutter and I cannot upload the build to App Store Connect due to the following CodeSign error: Command CodeSign failed with a nonzero exit code Provisioning profile "…" doesn't include the entitlement: com.apple.developer.activitykit.allow-third-party-activity This error never goes away no matter what I try. And the main problem is that my App ID does NOT show any ActivityKit or Live Activity capability in the Apple Developer portal → Identifiers → App ID. So I cannot enable it manually. However: Xcode requires this entitlement Flutter requires this entitlement When I add the entitlement manually in the .entitlements file, Xcode says: “This entitlement must be enabled in your Developer account. It cannot be added manually.” So I am stuck in a loop where: Apple Developer portal does not show ActivityKit capability Xcode demands the ActivityKit entitlement Signing fails App Store upload fails And Live Activity is a critical feature of my app What I have already done ✔ “Automatically manage signing” is enabled ✔ Correct Team is selected for both Runner and the Widget Extension ✔ Bundle IDs are correct: com.yksbuddy.app com.yksbuddy.app.TimerWidgetExtension ✔ Deleted Derived Data completely ✔ Tried removing all ActivityKit-related entitlement keys manually ✔ Deleted Pods, reinstalled, rebuilt ✔ App Group settings match between Runner and Extension ✔ The same Live Activity code works perfectly in a clean Xcode-only project ✔ But fails only inside a Flutter project structure ✔ Xcode builds & runs on simulator, but App Store upload always fails due to missing entitlement Core Problem: In my Apple Developer “Identifiers → App ID” page, the Live Activity / ActivityKit capability does NOT appear at all, so I cannot enable: Live Activities ActivityKit Third-party activity entitlement Without being able to enable this capability, I cannot create a valid provisioning profile that includes: com.apple.developer.activitykit.allow-third-party-activity Flutter + Xcode insists this entitlement must exist, but Apple Developer portal does not give any option to enable it.
