Hi everyone,
After I recently changed my Apple ID (iCloud) password, my Developer ID certificate stopped working for signing macOS apps.
Symptoms:
Signing fails with the Developer ID certificate that was previously working fine.
I tried re-downloading the certificate from my Apple Developer account and importing it into the Keychain, but the issue persists.
It seems that the Developer ID identity is no longer trusted or properly linked to my system since the password change.
Attempts:
Re-downloaded and installed the certificate from the developer portal.
Verified that the private key is present and linked.
Checked keychain access and code-signing identity — everything appears normal, but the signed apps are rejected or the signing process fails.
Blocking issue:
I am unable to delete or revoke the Developer ID certificate on my account (Apple Support says it's not possible).
Also, I can't create a new one due to the certificate limit.
Questions:
Is it expected for a Developer ID certificate to become invalid after changing the Apple ID password?
Is there a recommended way to refresh or restore the certificate trust on macOS?
How can I invalidate the current certificate and generate a new one if I'm stuck?
Any insights or official guidance would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I read that notarization should be fairly quick. I thought that it was stuck, so I ended up sending a few submissions of the same app. I was wondering if you'd able to tell me the status of my latest submission (id: a094f93d-8bb2-47fe-a411-b6e357456ec7). It has been saying "In Progress" for over 3 hours now. If it is held for in-depth review, would you be able to tell me what's the wait period is like?
Thanks!
So we are building a Tauri app and I have no been able to get our App to be Notarized using Developer ID.
We have a ticket open for 3 months now. Can anyone help me out here?

Hey all,
I’m experiencing a consistent issue with notarizing a signed .pkg file that contains a macOS screen saver (.saver) bundle.
Nothing online so far except 1 thread on the form from the altool time pre-2023 so i thought it worth another update.
Here is what I did:
I signed the .saver bundle using my Developer ID Application certificate.
I packaged it into a .pkg using pkgbuild with my Developer ID Installer certificate:
I submitted the resulting .pkg via xcrun notarytool:
xcrun notarytool submit saver-name.pkg --apple-id email@email.com --password [app-specific-password] --team-id xxxxxxxxx
The submission appears to be accepted and uploads successfully.
However, the notarization status remains stuck at “In Progress” for hours (over 12h), with no update.
I also tried:
Repackaging the .pkg with a new name
using a zip
Resubmitting it under a new submission ID
All attempts are stuck in the same “In Progress” state indefinitely.
Did anyone solve this yet?
Hey,
So i am trying to setup OpenGL on my mac.
Specs : M2 Pro, 15.5 (24F74)
Now i have setup the entire project properly as far as i know. GLFW, GLAD and the OpenGL framework. the build libraries are also reference and everything.
I have also included the glad.c file in the folder. i have also kept it to run locally in signing tab. its still giving me
Command CodeSign failed with a nonzero exit code
All the ss are provided

Hello, we are currently encountering a similar issue. We need to inject our capabilities into a third-party app by re-signing it (not a full re-signing process—just requiring the provisioning profile and certificate to match). However, this seems to affect the functionality of universal links. We've found that this issue only occurs on iOS 18.
We noticed that when re-signing the app, the entitlements related to associated domains are changed to a wildcard:
[Key] com.apple.developer.associated-domains
[Value]
[Array]
[String] *
However, this doesn’t cause any issues on iOS 17.
Through further testing, we discovered that in order for universal links to work properly, we need to restore the original value of com.apple.developer.associated-domains and use a provisioning profile that matches the app's bundle ID. This means our previous re-signing approach using a certificate and provisioning profile from another bundle will no longer work.
We’d like to ask: is this a new restriction introduced in iOS 18? If we manually restore the original com.apple.developer.associated-domains entitlement and use a provisioning profile that matches the app’s bundle ID, will universal links function correctly going forward?

When completing signing on Xcode, it shows the following error message "No certificate for team '' matching 'Developer ID Application' found"
I have already followed the steps to generate a certificate from keychain and made a new certificate on developer portal, along with its associated provisioning profile.
Viewing "Manage Certificate" window shows the newly created certificate, but Xcode seems to not be able to locate it.

Hey all,
I'm experiencing an error, when trying to upload my app to the App Store using Transporter. I build my app with fvm flutter build ipa --release. When I try to upload this, I get the following error:
I have already done a rebuild and checked my Provision Profile and certificate
Can you please help us with the scenario below, including details and Apple’s recommendations?
I've already read through the Notarization and Gatekeeper documentation.
The installed version of our application is 1.2.3, located in /Applications/XYZSecurity.app.
We created an upgrade package for version 1.2.4. As part of the pre-install script in the 1.2.4 installer, we explicitly deleted some obsolete .dylib files from /Applications/XYZSecurity.app/Contents/Frameworks and some executable files from
/Applications/XYZSecurity.app/Contents/MacOS that were no longer needed in version 1.2.4.
The installation of version 1.2.4 completed successfully, but we see the below error logs in installer.log:
PackageKit: Failed to unlinkat file reference /Applications/XYZSecurity.app/Contents/Frameworks/libhelper.dylib
PackageKit: Failed to unlinkat file reference /Applications/XYZSecurity.app/Contents/MacOS/helper-tool
Our Key Questions:
Is it the right practice to remove obsolete files in the pre-install script during an upgrade?
Is this approach recommended by Apple?
Can this cause any issues with Apple Gatekeeper? Is there a possibility of my application getting blocked by Gatekeeper as a result?
Hi,
At work, we've done some development on an Apple Vision Pro. On the project, we used object tracking to track an object in 3D and found the default tracking refresh rate (I believe 5Hz)to be too slow so we applied for enterprise APIs so we could change it.
At some point, in the capabilities (as a beginner to Swift and the Apple development environment) I noticed that's where you enable the Object Tracking Parameter Adjustment API and I did so, before hearing back about whether we got access to the enterprise API's and the license file that comes with it. So I setup the re-fresh rate to 30Hz and logged the settings of the ObjectTrackingProvider, showing it was set at 30Hz and felt like it was better than the default when we ran our app. In the Xcode runtime logs, there was no warning or error saying that the license file for the enterprise API was not found (and I don't think we heard back from Apple if they had granted our request or not - even if they did I think the license would be expired by now).
Fast forward to today, I was running the sample code of the Main Camera access for VisionOS linked in the official developer documentation and when I ran the project in Xcode, I noticed in the logs that it wanted an enterprise license and that's why it wasn't running as expected in the immersive space. We've since applied for the Enterprise API for Main Camera Access.
I'm now confused - did I mistakenly believe the object tracking refresh rate was set to 30Hz but it actually wasn't due to the lack of a license file/being granted access to the enterprise APIs? It seemed to be running as expected without a license file. Is Object tracking Parameter Adjustment API handled with different permissions than Main Camera Access API even though they are both enterprise APIs?
This is all for internal development and not planning on distributing an app but I find the behaviour to be confusing between the different enterprise API? Does anyone have more insight as I find the developer notes on the enterprise APIs to be a bit sparse.
I am building an electron app bundled with python. My code signing was fast, but when it came to notarization, it has already taken over 6+ hours. How can I speed things up?

I requested the Family Controls (distribution) capability but am not sure if I did it correct. I applied, answered the questions why i needed it and submitted. Its been about 2 weeks since applying. In the app configurations, it on apple dev site, it shows in the request history that I submitted it on March 17, but I can click the request (+) button and request it again. Just want to make sure I didn't mess anything up--it seems like they would prevent me from sendin another request if I had already requested it. It hasn't taken them this long to get back to me in the past which is why I am confused. If anyone knows how to speed up the process, please let me know! Thanks.
Hello all,

for what has been about 1 day and 16 hours now.
Current status: In Progress........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
My app and project are rather small and was curious if this is a normal thing for this to day takes for a first time notarization?
Would love any help or feedback.
To ship a product outside of the Mac App Store, you must notarise it. The notary service issues a notarised ticket, and the ultimate consumer of that ticket is Gatekeeper. However, Gatekeeper does not just check the ticket; it also applies a variety of other checks, and it’s possible for those checks to fail even if your notarised ticket is just fine. To avoid such problems showing up in the field, test your product’s compatibility with Gatekeeper before shipping it.
To do this:
Set up a fresh machine, one that’s never seen your product before. If your product supports macOS 10.15.x, x < 4, the best OS version to test with is 10.15.3 [1].
Download your product in a way that quarantines it (for example, using Safari).
Disconnect the machine from the network. It might make sense to skip this step. See the discussion below.
Install and use your product as your users would.
If the product is signed, notarised, and stapled correctly, everything should work. If not, you’ll need to investigate what’s making Gatekeeper unhappy, fix that, and then retest. For detailed advice on that topic, see Resolving Trusted Execution Problems.
Run this test on a fresh machine each time. This is necessary because Gatekeeper caches information about your product and it’s not easy to reset that cache. Your best option is to do this testing on a virtual machine (VM). Take a snapshot of the VM before the first test, and then restore to that snapshot when you want to retest.
Also, by using a VM you can disable networking in step 3 without disrupting other work on your machine.
The reason why you should disable networking in step 3 is to test that you’ve correctly stapled the notarised ticket on to your product. If, for some reason, you’re unable to do that stapling, it’s fine to skip step 3. However, be aware that this may cause problems for a user if they try to deploy your product to a Mac that does not have access to the wider Internet. For more background on this, see The Pros and Cons of Stapling.
[1] macOS 10.15.4 fixes a bug that made Gatekeeper unnecessarily strict (r. 57278824), so by testing on 10.15.3 you’re exercising the worst case.
The process described above is by far the best way to test your Gatekeeper compatibility because it accurately tests how your users run your product. However, you can also run a quick, albeit less accurate test, using various command-line tools. The exact process depends on the type of product you’re trying to check:
App — Run syspolicy_check like this:
% syspolicy_check distribution WaffleVarnish.app
This tool was introduced in macOS 14. On older systems, use the older spctl tool. Run it like this:
% spctl -a -t exec -vvv WaffleVarnish.app
Be aware, however, that this check is much less accurate.
Disk image — Run spctl like this:
% spctl -a -t open -vvv --context context:primary-signature WaffleVarnish.dmg
Installer package — Run spctl like this:
% spctl -a -t install -vvv WaffleVarnish.pkg
Other code — Run codesign like this:
% codesign -vvvv -R="notarized" --check-notarization WaffleVarnish.bundle
This command requires macOS 10.15 or later.

Hi,
I have two notarization submissions that have been stuck in "In Progress" status for several hours with no resolution.
Submission IDs:
2158329b-8beb-400b-aa80-f8c2a5f30106 (submitted ~9 hours ago)
73174908-3ed9-4a85-afe0-a3c3b0722a61 (submitted ~3 hours ago)
Both submissions show "In Progress" indefinitely and no log is available for either. The notarytool --wait --timeout
30m timed out on the second submission with exit code 124.
The app is signed with a valid Developer ID Application certificate, all binaries including frameworks and dylibs are
individually signed with --options runtime and --timestamp. A previous submission returned valid on disk / satisfies
its Designated Requirement via spctl --assess.
Could you please investigate whether these submissions are stuck on your end, and advise on next steps?
Thank you.
