Team-scoped keys introduce the ability to restrict your token authentication keys to either development or production environments. Topic-specific keys in addition to environment isolation allow you to associate each key with a specific Bundle ID streamlining key management.
For detailed instructions on accessing these features, read our updated documentation on establishing a token-based connection to APNs.

We are currently testing the implementation of our Location Push Service Extension (LPSE) in both Ad Hoc and Release environments. We have encountered an issue where LPSE notifications, which were previously working correctly, suddenly fail to be delivered on some devices. After a period of several hours, the notifications resume arriving, but the issue remains intermittent. Notably, during these periods of suspected delivery restriction, regular push notifications (e.g., those using apns-push-type: alert) are delivered and displayed without any problem.
[Detailed Situation]
Test Environment and Scope
We are testing LPSE after obtaining the necessary entitlements, in both Ad Hoc and Release environments.
The issue is not observed on all test devices; only certain devices are affected.
Observed Behavior
Under normal circumstances, LPSE notifications are received and the extension is activated; however, on some devices the notifications suddenly stop arriving.
During these periods, even when sending notifications with apns-push-type: location directly via the CloudKit Push Notification Console, no response is observed on the affected devices.
The APNs server (api.push.apple.com) always returns a 200 OK response via HTTP/2, and our server-side logs and configurations (DNS resolution performed on every request, using the same JWT token for 59 minutes per session, communication via HTTP/2 with ALPN Protocol: h2) show no issues.
Other app functionalities (network communication, UI responsiveness, etc.) work normally.
Sending content
When sending notifications from our server to APNs (api.push.apple.com), we use the following configuration (over HTTP/2):
const payload = {
aps: { 'content-available': 1 }
};
const headers = {
':method': 'POST',
':path': /3/device/${apnsToken},
'Authorization': bearer ${jwtToken},
'apns-topic': 'ot.Here.location-query',
'apns-priority': '10',
'apns-push-type': 'location',
'Content-Type': 'application/json'
};
We perform DNS resolution for every request, use the same JWT token for a 59-minute period per session, and communicate via HTTP/2 with ALPN Protocol: h2.
Hypothesis on the Cause
We suspect that due to an implementation issue, silent push notifications (using content-available: 1) were being sent every few minutes concurrently, which may have triggered an APNs delivery restriction (rate limiting).
As a countermeasure, we have completely stopped sending silent pushes and any other background notifications aside from LPSE; however, the issue persists.
Additionally, even after resetting affected devices, the delivery problem continues to occur.
[Questions for Diagnosis]
Given the above situation, is it reasonable to suspect that excessive silent push notifications have triggered an APNs delivery restriction?
Does such a silent push restriction affect LPSE notifications (i.e., those sent with apns-push-type: location)?
Do APNs delivery restrictions persist even after a device has been reset?
Can a high volume of LPSE notifications alone (without silent pushes) also trigger a delivery restriction?
→ This is our primary concern since it poses a significant implementation challenge.
Please let us know if any additional information is required for diagnosis.
Dear Apple:
We found that after mirroring an iPhone and a Mac, calling the NEHotspotConfigurationManager applyConfiguration interface on the iPhone fails to connect to Wi-Fi. Are there any restrictions on using this interface in mirror mode?
Sorry but I'm not good at English.
Is the originalTransactionId received for the same subscription by the same user the same in Store Kit v1 and Store Kit 2?
Also, will the originalTransactionId be the same even if the subscription price is changed?
Since iOS 18.3.1, In lower iOS versions it works fine though.
QLPreviewController shows a blank white screen instead of showing the document. Additionally, it does not display the 'Done' option at the top-right to close the view.
Presenting the QLPreviewController works fine to display the document, but for the second time, it renders the blank white screen as described.
While launching QLPreviewControllerView for the first time. I'm receiving the following message in the console and it displays the document.

Closing the QLPreviewController with the help of the 'Done' option from top-right or swipe to close triggers the following message in the console.

It seems like find my mac is able to fetch the device location even if the device is in locked state. Why can’t other apps do the same.
When I use NSURLSessionTaskTransactionMetrics property domainLookupStartDate and domainLookupEndDate to calculate the duration of DNS, sometimes I get 4294893875545978 or -4294893875545978 return
method like this
[NSNumber numberWithLongLong:[taskMetrics.domainLookupEndDate timeIntervalSinceDate:taskMetrics.domainLookupStartDate?]*1000000000]
The hexadecimal value of 4294893875545978 is 0xF3F3F3F3F3F3A.
Is 4294893875545978 a special value?

Can be reproduced with a shared iPad setup (https://support.apple.com/de-de/guide/deployment/dep9a34c2ba2/web) and the example app provided by Apple (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/fileprovider/synchronizing-files-using-file-provider-extensions).
The issue is that when using the File Provider extension implemented with 'NSFileProviderReplicatedExtension', the content of the share does not display in the iPadOS Files app. The 'NSFileProviderEnumerating.enumerator' function is invoked, but none of the functions of the returned 'NSFileProviderEnumerator' are executed: neither 'currentSyncAnchor', 'enumerateChanges', nor 'enumerateItems'. Instead, the 'NSFileProviderEnumerator' is immediately invalidated. This issue can be reproduced with iPadOS 18.3 and a shared iPad setup.
Maybe i missing some additional steps/ settings in my extension to work properly on Shared iPads.
Created also a post on the feedbackassistent: FB16587660 (NSFileProviderReplicatedExtension does not work in Shared iPad setup)
Steps to reproduce:
iPad with a Shared iPad profile
Enroll the iPad and log in as a Guest user
Turn on developer mode
Install the example app from Apple (as mentioned above)
Add some test files to the FruitBasket storage
Add this FruitBasket domain to the FruitBasket-iOS app
You may need to provide "Privacy - Local Network Usage Description" in the Info.plist of the FruitBasket-iOS example app to be able to find local FruitBasket storage.
Check in the Files app to see that the FruitBasket share is empty
-> The expected behavior is that the FruitBasket share should contain the test files added previously. (This works fine without a shared iPad setup).
I'm developing an iOS 18 app using Core Bluetooth on an iPhone 16 Pro to scan for BLE Extended Advertising packets. However, scanning behavior is inconsistent. Sometimes, the app detects extended advertising packets correctly, but other times, it fails to find them even when the advertiser is active.
I tested using nRF Connect on both my iPhone 16 Pro and another Android device that I'm also developing an app for. The Android device consistently detects the extended advertising packets, but my iPhone 16 Pro has inconsistent results. Legacy advertising packets are scanned without any issues.
The same peripheral is consistently detected on Android and other BLE scanners. I've tested with different scan settings, restarted Bluetooth, and rebooted the device, but the issue persists.
Does iOS 18 have any known limitations with BLE Extended Advertising? Any workarounds to improve scanning reliability?
Ever since the last update i have issues with my camera app. Sometimes when I open the app the forward facing cameras don’t work and it’s just a Black screen. I also get a warning that I may not have genuine iPhone parts installed. I have to reboot the phone every time just to have it app function again. It’s annoying. Please fix this. I never had any issues with the camera or its app up until after the update.
Hello, I'm using 'App Store Server Notifications V2'.

I was wondering if there would be any impact on refunds if I received this notification and didn't respond. (Always refund etc..)

Hi, I want to open an email message with AppleScript. Everything is working correctly, but in the Mail app, instead of focusing on targetMessage, it highlights the email after the target message.
When I use:
tell targetMessage to open
the correct email opens in new window but the wrong email is highlighted in the Mail app list.
tell application "Mail"
activate
set targetAccount to missing value
repeat with anAccount in every account
if name of anAccount is "AccountName" then
set targetAccount to anAccount
exit repeat
end if
end repeat
if targetAccount is not missing value then
set targetBox to missing value
repeat with aBox in mailboxes of targetAccount
if name of aBox is "MailboxName" then
set targetBox to aBox
exit repeat
end if
end repeat
if targetBox is not missing value then
set targetMessage to missing value
set oneWeekAgo to (current date) - (7 * days)
set filteredMessages to (every message of targetBox whose date received ≥ oneWeekAgo)
repeat with aMessage in filteredMessages
try
if message id of aMessage is "MessageID" then
set targetMessage to aMessage
exit repeat
end if
end try
end repeat
if targetMessage is not missing value then
if (count of message viewers) > 0 then
set mailViewer to message viewer 1
else
set mailViewer to make new message viewer
end if
tell mailViewer
set selected mailboxes to {targetBox}
delay 0.2
set selected messages to {targetMessage}
end tell
return "Found"
else
return "Message Not found"
end if
else
return "Folder Not found"
end if
else
return "Account Not found"
end if
end tell
Why is this behavior happening?
We have a watchOS app that provides many configurable widgets. Those widgets are configured and installed with help of AppIntent:
public struct RectComplAppIntent: AppIntent, WidgetConfigurationIntent, CustomIntentMigratedAppIntent {
@Parameter(title: "Style")
var style: String?
....
}
However when I print WidgetInfos with getCurrentConfigurations(), I sometimes got nil for configuration. At the same time widgets are not loaded. Exact steps:
User installs the pre-cofnigured .watchface.
Complications are not loaded since configuration is missing. I print getCurrentConfigurations() and get entries like this:
WidgetInfo:
- configuration: nil
- widgetConfigurationIntent: nil
- family: accessoryRectangular
- kind: Rectangle
Then user force-touches a face and opens editing mode. Returns to watch app, prints infos:
WidgetInfo:
- configuration: <INIntent: 0x780d290> {
style = vol1Logo;
}
- widgetConfigurationIntent: nil
- family: accessoryRectangular
- kind: Rectangle
– Suddenly intent appears with the correct style and complications start to show up.
How do you think, why it happens? Why after .watchface install all the WidgetInfo has nil intent (configuration)? What helps them to load later?
You can try this face yourself: https://cdn.watchfaces.co/watchfaces/glance-minimalist.watchface

https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple_pay_on_the_web/applepaypaymentrequest/3955945-multitokencontexts
According to this document, I know that I can initialize a multiTokenContexts when initializing ApplePayPaymentRequest.
But I am now facing a tricky problem. If the user's order does not require multiTokenContexts, then I will not initialize this field when I first make ApplePayPaymentRequest. When the user is in the payment process, I may update multiTokenContexts. But this time, the update is not allowed, ApplePay will be cancelled and the payment will be closed.
For example, if the user's address in Apple Pay is different, I need to update multiTokenContexts to support the payment of goods to multiple merchants, which will generate an update of multiTokenContexts. MultiTokenContexts can be updated in the onshippingcontactselected method.
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple_pay_on_the_web/applepaysession/1778009-onshippingcontactselected
My question is that from the beginning, there was no multiTokenContexts to update multiTokenContexts in onshippingcontactselected, which would cause the user to close the payment and need to manually click to pay again.
This user experience is not very friendly. Is there a better way for me to go from no multiTokenContexts to multiTokenContexts without interrupting the user's payment process?
I've noticed that SwiftData's @Relationship seems to potentially cause application crashes.
The crash error is shown in the image.
Since this crash appears to be random and I cannot reproduce it under specific circumstances, I can only temporarily highlight that this issue seems to exist.
@Model final class TrainInfo {
@Relationship(deleteRule: .cascade, inverse: \StopStation.trainInfo)
var stations: [StopStation]?
}
@Model final class StopStation {
@Relationship
var trainInfo: TrainInfo?
}
/// some View
var origin: StopStationDisplayable? {
if let train = train as? TrainInfo {
return train.stations?.first(where: { $0.isOrigin }) ?? train.stations?.first(where: { $0.isStarting })
}
return nil
}
// Some other function or property
func someFunction() {
if let origin, let destination {
// Function implementation
}
}
I've been reading this question: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/701945 and watching the videos on background tasks
But can't arrive to a concrete solution.
Q1: Are there any tips (or sample app) on how to handle a launch in background in a streamlined way? How to have a shared code that is ran for both 'launch in background' & 'launch in foreground'?
Specifically the case I'm talking about is:
You set up some observance of some OS callback at a Foo screen of your app. Example app should request and then send push-to-start live activity tokens to server. Or setup location tracking.
App is then suspended and then later terminated but is eligible for relaunch
App is then launched in background because it has requested a push-to-start live activity token or an update for location tracking.
User DOES NOT go back to screen Foo.
So at this point app is no longer tracking / listening to updates for token update or location changes.
How should I architecture my code for this? I'm trying to see if there's a an approach where I can avoid having multiple places in code where I do the same thing. Currently what I'm doing is as such:
Q2: Is it then correct to say that anytime you've launched your app, whether it's in foreground or background then you must immediately match 'all observations done by the previous app launch'?
Like store items in UserDefaults and upon launch retrieve them and do:
handleGeneralAppLaunchFlow()
// ALSO
if defaults.contains("didLastLaunchSetupLiveActivtiyTokenObservance") {
for await ptsToken in Activity<EmojiRangers> .pushToStartTokenUpdates {
...
}
}
if defaults.contains("didLastLaunchSetupLocationTracking") {
locationManager = CLLocationManager()
locationManager?.delegate = itsDelegate
locationManager?.allowsBackgroundLocationUpdates = true
locationManager?.showsBackgroundLocationIndicator = true
locationManager?.startUpdatingLocation()
}
// Other checks for prior observance setup
Q3: Actually I think even if app is launched in foreground then because you may not end up at screen Foo again, then you must setup things regardless of app state and just based on prior observations set. Right?
Q4: And then later if the user ever made it again to screen Foo, then we just skip the re-do of the observance, or maybe to just keep things simple, we'd just redo without over-engineering things?
I tried to mark my questions with Q1- Q4.
Hello, experts!
I'm working on a VOIP application that handles audio calls and integrates with CallKit. The problem occurs when attempting to redial a previously made audio call from the system's call history. When I try to handle the NSUserActivity in the application(_:continue:restorationHandler:) method, it intercepts the INStartAudioCallIntent instead of the expected INStartCallIntent.
Background
Deprecation Warnings: I'm encountering deprecation warnings when using INStartAudioCallIntent and INStartVideoCallIntent:
'INStartAudioCallIntent' was deprecated in iOS 13.0: INStartAudioCallIntent is deprecated. Please adopt INStartCallIntent instead.
'INStartVideoCallIntent' was deprecated in iOS 13.0: INStartVideoCallIntent is deprecated. Please adopt INStartCallIntent instead.
As a result, I need to migrate to INStartCallIntent instead, but the issue is that when trying to redial a call from the system’s call history, INStartAudioCallIntent is still being triggered.
Working with Deprecated Intents: If I use INStartAudioCallIntent or INStartVideoCallIntent, everything works as expected, but I want to adopt INStartCallIntent to align with the current iOS recommendations.
Configuration:
CXProvider Configuration: The CXProvider is configured as follows:
let configuration = CXProviderConfiguration()
configuration.supportsVideo = true
configuration.maximumCallsPerCallGroup = 1
configuration.maximumCallGroups = 1
configuration.supportedHandleTypes = [.generic]
configuration.iconTemplateImageData = UIImage(asset: .callKitLogo)?.pngData()
let provider = CXProvider(configuration: configuration)
Outgoing Call Handle: When making an outgoing call, the CXHandle is created like this:
let handle = CXHandle(type: .generic, value: callId)
Info.plist Configuration: In the info.plist, the following key is defined:
<key>NSUserActivityTypes</key>
<array>
<string>INStartCallIntent</string>
</array>
Problem:
When trying to redial the audio call from the system's call history, the NSUserActivity received in the application(_:continue:restorationHandler:) method is an instance of INStartAudioCallIntent instead of INStartCallIntent. This happens even though INStartCallIntent is listed in NSUserActivityTypes in the info.plist and I want to migrate to the newer intent as recommended in iOS 13+.

I'd like to write an app to help diagnose malfunctioning home theater setups.
I've seen libcec, but it doesn't seem to support Apple's HDMI ports (and maybe APIs to support it don't exist? I'm not sure.)
Thanks in advance. Sorry if I've applied the wrong tags to this post.
I want to write a disk image (ISO, img) to an SD card, but I always get permission errno 13 (permission denied).
let diskPath = "/dev/rdisk99"
guard let diskHandle = FileHandle(forWritingAtPath: diskPath) else {
throw NSError(domain: "DiskWriter", code: Int(errno), userInfo: [NSLocalizedDescriptionKey: "errno \(errno)"])
}
It seems that when other macOS applications try to read from a raw block device it triggers an Access Removable Media prompt and when other applications try to write to a raw block device it triggers a Full Disk Access prompt.
How can I trigger that prompt? And then how do I elevate my write to use that permission?
P.S. I'm not a Swift coder, but I'd like to be... if it weren't that every "simple" thing I've tried launches me directly into a brick wall. :slight_smile:
(not a criticism, just that the kinds of problems I like to solve tend towards uncommon and not as well supported in the ecosystem)
What I've tried
I did change Sandbox App to NO in MyApp.entitlements
I have tried manually adding my Debug Archive to Full Disk Access
Why?
As to why I'm I interested in this: Well, it just seems silly that UI tools that do what dd does are hundreds of megabytes. Can't we do this in a UI that uses all the default macOS libraries and is just a few kilobytes (or megabytes at worst)?
